Thomas Hardy, Partner
Thomas Hardy brings together an
international background as an operating executive,
business advisor and active Board member.
In 1985, he was one of the
founders of Trans-Resources Inc. (TRI), a multinational
manufacturer and distributor of specialty plant
nutrients, industrial chemicals and organic chemicals.
Between 1985 and 2000, when he resigned from his
position as President and Chief Operating Officer, TRI
developed a leading position in its industry, with sales
of over $500 million, manufacturing facilities in five
countries, and exports to over 80 countries worldwide.
Between 1969 and 1984, Mr. Hardy
was with McKinsey and Company, Inc., a leading
international firm of management consultants, and he was
a Partner from 1976. During his 15 years with McKinsey,
he worked in the New York, Paris, and Tokyo offices of
the firm, helping clients in a range of industries -
chemicals, pulp and paper, specialty glass, building
products, aluminum - expand internationally and improve
profitability.
In terms of not-for-profit
activities, Mr. Hardy is a former Trustee and former
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the American
University in Paris. He is also a former Member of the
Investment Committee of Agora Partnership which seeks to
accelerate the economic growth of developing countries
by backing promising entrepreneurs.
Mr. Hardy is a Senior Associate
Member at St. Antony’s in Oxford, England, where he has
been exploring the potential adverse consequences of
contemporary anti-American sentiment around the world.
Mr. Hardy is a graduate of the University of Sydney,
Australia, and has an MBA from the Wharton School at the
University of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Hardy resides with his wife
in New York, NY, USA.
